10 teams, 8 of them play each other once - for a total of 7 games each, over 7 game weeks.
2 teams (Ceará and Fortaleza) enter the competition directly at the 2nd Phase.

Scoring points:
3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Table order:
1. points won; 2. games won; 3. total goal difference; 4. total goals scored; 5. points in head-to-head matches; 6. goal difference in hth matches; 7. draw.

Qualification for Copa do Brasil:
1 place: qualifies for Copa do Brasil

Qualification for the Final Stages:
1-6 place: qualify for the 2nd Phase

Relegation from the league:
7-8 place: relegated to Cearense 2

Promotion to the league:
2 teams from Cearense 2


2nd Phase:

Format:
6 teams from the 1st Phase and the 2 teams that enter the competition at this stage play each other once - for a total of 7 games each, over 7 game weeks.

Scoring points:
3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Table order:
1. points won; 2. games won; 3. total goal difference; 4. total goals scored; 5. points in head-to-head matches; 6. goal difference in hth matches; 7. draw.

Qualification for the Final Stages:
1-4 place: qualify for the Final Stages


Final Stages:
------------

Format:
4 teams from the 2nd Phase contest the Cearense 1 champion in a knockout format.

Semi-finals:
Teams are paired according to their 2nd Phase standings:
1st vs 4th;
2nd vs 3rd.
Winners are decided over two legs.
The teams with higher 2nd Phase placing host the second legs.

Tie-breakers for the Semi-finals knockout matches:
1. aggregate score from the two legs, 2. better 2nd Phase placing.

Final:
The two Semi-finals winners meet each other with the winner becoming Cearense 1 champion.
Winner is decided over two legs.
The team with better 2nd Phase and Semi-finals combined record hosts the second leg.

Tie-breakers for the Semi-finals knockout matches:
1. aggregate score from the two legs, 2. better 2nd Phase and Semi-finals combined record.

Qualification for Copa do Brasil:
champion: qualifies for Copa do Brasil

Qualification for Copa do Nordeste:
champion: qualifies for Copa do Nordeste

Qualification for Serie D:
champion: qualifies for Serie D
losing finalist: qualifies for Serie D
