13 novembro 2018 11:26

Former Sri Lanka international Dilhara Lokuhettige has been charged by the International Cricket Council (ICC) with three counts of breaching its anti-corruption code.

Lokuhettige - who played in nine ODIs and two Twenty20 fixtures between 2005 and 2013 - has been provisionally suspended with immediate effect.

The charges against him relate to the T10 Cricket League played in the United Arab Emirates last year, according to a statement from the ICC.

They include "being party to an effort to fix or contrive or to otherwise influence improperly the result, progress, conduct, or other aspect(s)" of a domestic fixture, which is article 2.1.1 of the code.

Article 2.1.4, meanwhile, is "directly soliciting, inducing, enticing or encouraging a player to breach article code 2.1.1". The other charge appertains to article 2.4.4, a "failure to disclose to the designated anti-corruption officer (without unnecessary delay) full details of any approaches or invitations he received to engage in corrupt conduct".

Lokuhettige has 14 days from November 13 to respond to the charges.
